About us — DefendU, Poznań
About us.
DefendU.
A self-defence and tactical training school from Poznań. We teach simply, practically and safely.
We know safety.
DefendU is a school from Poznań run by instructor Igor Barnaś. We teach the Defendu system — a simple, effective close-combat method created by William Fairbairn and Eric Sykes.
We train civilians, uniformed-service class students, company staff and people preparing to work in security. We run classes in Poznań and travel to train groups anywhere in Poland.
Simplicity. Practice. Responsibility.
We practise what works under stress: few movements, quick decisions, participants' safety. We start from the basics, so you need no experience or equipment of your own. Those who want to go further can become DefendU instructors.
Igor Barnaś and the community.
Igor Barnaś is the owner and head instructor of DefendU. He created the Bodyguard programme for close-protection officers and the Camp X training centre. Meet the instructors and the history of the Defendu system.
More than 45,000 people follow us on Facebook, and we publish training videos on YouTube, Instagram and TikTok.
